Pete Fairbanks To Have Follow-Up Appointment May 11
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Pete Fairbanks (lat), who was diagnosed with a 50% tear in his right lat, is scheduled for a follow-up appointment on May 11. Fairbanks was injured on the fifth pitch on March 27 and was shut down from throwing for six weeks. He received a platelet-rich plasma injection in Dallas. The 28-year-old is currently on the 60-day injured list and is expected to miss three months of action. Andrew Kittredge is the best bet for saves until Fairbanks returns, but Ryan Thompson has jumped into the picture with two saves of his own this week. Kittredge has three saves on the season and has a pristine 1.93 ERA and 0.64 WHIP in 9 1/3 innings pitched in the early going for the Rays.
