Pedro Baez Throws 20 Pitches Tuesday
3 years agoHouston Astros relief pitcher Pedro Baez (shoulder) threw 20 pitches off a mound on Tuesday in West Palm Beach, Fla., according to manager Dusty Baker. It's a positive step for Baez, who still has yet to make his debut with the team in 2021 after spending the first seven years of his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 33-year-old veteran right-hander will be a welcome addition to Houston's bullpen whenever he's ready to return, but he'll only be worth considering in deeper leagues that award points for holds. Baez has been very effective in his career, posting a 3.03 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 369 strikeouts and a 9.3 K/9 in 355 relief outings (356 innings). He'll likely have to go on a short rehab assignment before he makes his debut for the 'Stros.
