Patriots Sign Undrafted Quarterback
5 years agoThe New England Patriots are signing former Louisiana Tech quarterback J'Mar Smith as an undrafted player, according to a source. Many thought the Patriots would address their glaring need under center in the draft after Tom Brady left in free agency, but that wasn't the case. Instead, head coach Bill Belichick chose to take Smith as an undrafted free agent. He's unlikely to have a shot to start in Week 1 in 2020, but he'll provide depth behind Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer next season and will be groomed as a potential starter down the line. Smith threw for 2,977 yards (8.1 yards per attempt), 18 touchdowns and five interceptions in 11 games in his senior season in college.
