Panthers Chose Not To Bench D.J. Moore
6 years agoCarolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera chose not to bench rookie wide receiver/punt returner D.J. Moore in Week 6 against the Redskins after he lost two costly fumbles in the loss. “We’re trying to develop a football team,” Rivera said. “I’m not too concerned about punishing players for making mistakes as much as we are about developing them and making sure they’re learning and growing and being able to go forward with them. That’s the idea behind that.” Despite the fumbles, Moore had a season-high 59 receiving yards in the game. His ability to bounce back and fight through adversity is a testament to his character. Moore can be a special player in the NFL, but he has only 10 catches on 13 targets for 162 yards and a touchdown through five games, making him just a bench stash for now.
