Panthers Backup QB Job Still Up For Grabs
5 years agoNone of the Carolina Panthers backup quarterbacks stood out in Friday's preseason action against the Bills. Quarterback Kyle Allen went 4-for-11 for 32 yards. Rookie Will Grier went 10-for-19 for 75 yards but also had several overthrown balls, missed targets and threw an interception that was returned for a score. Taylor Heinicke finished 8-for-12 for 78 yards and led a touchdown drive. The job behind Cam Newton remains wide open as the team evaluates their options. Heinicke may have the leg up because he was the backup in 2018, but this competition is far from over.
