3 weeks agoIn qualifying for Sunday's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Daniel Suarez obtained a starting position of 23rd, matching where he started in the 2022 race at the site. In seven Homestead races, Suarez has four top-20 finishes, including three straight finishes of 16th or better in his last three starts at the site. With 33 races completed this year, Suarez has one win and 18 top-20 finishes, including four at 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks. In practice, Suarez ranked 35th in overall lap averages of all drivers but ranked among the Top 10 fastest of Group B drivers in all other eligible categories. Based on his favorable results in 2024 at 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks and at Homestead in the past few seasons, Suarez is a driver worth recommending this week for DFS.Source: DriverAverages.com
3 weeks ago23XI Racing's Tyler Reddick nabbed the pole position and will start first in this week's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. It is Reddick's first career pole at the Florida track after five attempts. In four previous races at Homestead, Reddick has three top-5 finishes, led in two different Cup events, and collected a Driver Rating over 100 twice. After 33 races this season, Reddick has two wins, 19 top-10 finishes, and an average finish of 13.2. At 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks in 2024, Reddick has three top-5 finishes and led in five of the six races at the track type. In practice, Reddick was one of the fastest overall drivers, as he ranked sixth or higher in all categories on speed compared to the rest of the field. With his fantastic track history, top-notch practice speeds, and his playoff situation where he is close to must-win territory, Reddick is a driver worth rostering as he will compete for the win.Source: DriverAverages.com
3 weeks agoJohn Hunter Nemechek of Legacy Motor Club qualified 29th for Sunday's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. This is Nemechek's lowest starting position at Homestead since his first race at the site back in 2019. In four previous starts at Homestead, Nemechek has one top-20 finish and one finish with positive Place Differential scored. In 33 races completed this season, Nemechek has seven top-20 finishes and an average finish of 25.4. At 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks this year, Nemechek has been boom-or-bust with two finishes of 13th or better but also three finishes of 30th or worse at the track type. In practice, Nemechek ranked 31st in overall lap averages while only ranking among the top 20 fastest in 30 consecutive lap averages (18th). Despite his starting position offering plenty of upside, Nemechek is only a contrarian play who can be used in any format at best with his inconsistent results at both Homestead and Intermediate tracks this season.Source: DriverAverages.com
3 weeks agoFor Sunday's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Erik Jones will start from the 28th position, the lowest of his Cup career at the Florida track. In seven races at Homestead, Jones picked up positive Place Differential twice and has two top-20 finishes. Through 31 races completed this year, Jones has 14 top-20 finishes, with three of them coming at 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks. In practice, Jones ranked 26th in overall lap averages, 12th in five consecutive lap averages, and 19th in both 10 and 15 consecutive lap averages. While there are other driver options that are cheaper and contain more upside, Jones is still a decent option for DFS lineups who will compete for a top-20 finish. Source: DriverAverages.com
3 weeks agoStewart-Haas Racing's Noah Gragson received a starting position of 16th after qualifying for Sunday's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, a new personal-best starting position at the site in the Cup Series so far. In his only previous start at Homestead in the Cup Series, Gragson started and finished 25th while substituting for an injured Alex Bowman at Hendrick Motorsports. In five starts in the Xfinity Series at the site, Gragson has been incredible with one win, four top-5 finishes, and a Driver Rating over 100 gained in all five events. Through 33 races this season, Gragson has 20 top-20 finishes, including five at 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks. In practice, Gragson ranked second in overall lap averages and was the fastest driver in the 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 consecutive lap averages. Based on his practice speeds, Xfinity Homestead history, and intermediate track performances this season, Gragson is considered a sneaky, excellent DFS recommendation for all formats.Source: DriverAverages.com
3 weeks agoTodd Gilliland nabbed a starting position of 31st for this week's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, marking the fourth consecutive race at a 1.5-mile Intermediate track where he will start 30th or worse this season. In two races at Homestead, Gilliland's best finish was 25th, which he collected in last year's race after starting 32nd. With 33 races completed in 2024, Gilliland has 17 top-20 finishes and an average finish of 20.8. At 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks this year, Gilliland has two top-20 finishes and gathered positive Place Differential four times. In practice, Gilliland ranked 24th in overall lap averages and ranked among the top 15 fastest in 15, 20, 25, and 30 consecutive lap average categories. Due to his high upside, capable equipment, and overall results at Intermediate tracks throughout 2024, Gilliland is one of the better value options available for DFS players, as he is likely to compete for a top-20 finish.Source: DriverAverages.com
3 weeks agoTrackhouse Racing's Ross Chastain will start Sunday's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway from the 22nd position. This is Chastain's lowest starting position at the Florida track since the introduction of the Next-Gen car in 2022. In five starts at Homestead, Chastain has only one top-10 finish, but it was a second-place result from the 2022 Cup race, and he also collected positive Place Differential four times in his career at the site. With 33 races completed this year, Chastain has one win, 13 top-10 finishes, and an average finish of 14.5. At 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks this season, Chastain has four top-10 finishes, including a win at Kansas Speedway earlier in the playoffs. In practice, Chastain ranked 20th in overall lap averages and 11th in 10 consecutive lap averages. Based on his solid upside and great performances at Intermediate tracks this year, Chastain is an outstanding option worth rostering in all DFS formats. Source: DriverAverages.com
3 weeks agoAfter qualifying for Sunday's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Kyle Busch obtained a starting position of 17th, his highest at the site since joining Richard Childress Racing in 2023. In 19 starts at Homestead, Busch has two wins, 11 top-10 finishes, and 465 laps led, which is second-most of active drivers. After 33 races completed so far in 2024, Busch has 20 top-20 finishes and an average finish of 17.5. At 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks this season, Busch has four top-15 finishes, with two inside the Top 10. In practice, Busch ranked 12th in overall lap averages. Busch's track history at Homestead is strong, and his performance at intermediate tracks this year makes him a driver to consider rostering in any DFS format. Still, there are more favorable alternative drivers for DFS that are cheaper and carry more upside compared to Busch this week, making him only worth rostering in contests as a contrarian play.Source: DriverAverages.com
3 weeks agoHarrison Burton will start 34th for Sunday's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, which is the lowest in his Cup career at the site. In two starts at Homestead, Burton has one top-20 finish and one DNF due to overheating his car. Through 33 races so far this year, Burton has one win and eight top-20 finishes, including one top-15 at 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks, a track type where he scored four finishes with positive or neutral Place Differential. In practice, Burton ranked 18th in overall lap averages while ranking 17th or better in all other categories on speed. Although Burton's 2024 season has been lackluster statistically, his practice speeds and high upside make him a decent pick to consider for any DFS format this week.Source: DriverAverages.com

3 weeks agoRyan Blaney of Team Penske will start Sunday's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway from the 20th position, the lowest starting position of his Cup career to date at the site. In nine races at Homestead, Blaney has two top-10 finishes, highlighted by a runner-up finish in last year's race at the Florida track. In 33 races so far this season, Blaney has two wins, 15 top-10 finishes, and an average finish of 16.5. At 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks this year, Blaney has two top-5 finishes and nabbed positive Place Differential four times at the track type. In practice, Blaney ranked fifth in overall lap averages and ranked among the top 10 fastest drivers in almost all categories on speed. Based on his practice speeds, equipment, and overall 2024 performance on Intermediate tracks, Blaney is a favorable DFS recommendation who can compete for a top-10 finish.Source: DriverAverages.com

4 weeks agoChase Elliott was eliminated from the Las Vegas race, which opened the Round of 8 in the NASCAR playoffs after being caught up in a crash on the restart that started Stage 2. The wreck happened when Stage 1 winner Tyler Reddick attempted a three-wide outside pass on Elliott and Martin Truex, Jr. before Elliott and Reddick crashed, resulting in a wild flip through the grass for Reddick and eliminating Brad Keselowski while Elliott and Ryan Blaney continued many laps down before Elliott parked his car late in the race, ultimately finishing 33rd. Although Elliott blamed Reddick for the crash, it looked like Truex bumped Elliott into Reddick to trigger the initial contact. The crash left Elliott 15 points behind Reddick for the final transfer spot. Given his lack of winning speed, it seems somewhat doubtful that he will make that up.Source: Racing Reference
4 weeks agoA mere week ago, Joey Logano left the Charlotte roval thinking he had failed to advance to the Round of 8 until Alex Bowman's disqualification unexpectedly let him back in. With his win in yesterday's South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, he became the first driver to lock himself into the championship race at Phoenix, extending his streak of making the championship round in every even-numbered year and only the even-numbered years. For the second time this season, Logano won on fuel mileage. He took his only lead of the race from Daniel Suarez (who also made it on one fewer pit stop) with six laps remaining. Although Christopher Bell, the dominant driver in the race, worked his way around Suarez, he came up less than a second short of passing Logano, who at this point might be the luckiest driver in NASCAR history.Source: Racing Reference
