1 month agoChris Gutierrez (20-5-2) is set to take on UFC newcomer Quang Le on the main card of UFC Vegas 95. Gutierrez was supposed to take on Javid Basharat but on fight week, he was forced out of the bout and Le stepped up on short notice. Gutierrez is coming off a decision loss to Song Yadong in his first UFC main event. Gutierrez is a massive favorite in this fight and in the UFC, he's 8-3-1 with three wins by stoppage while he's been finished just once. Gutierrez should get someone just outside the top 15 like Basharat with a win.--Cole SheltonSource: UFC

1 month agoDamon Jackson (23-6-1 with one no-contest) is set to take on Chepe Mariscal in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 95 on Saturday. Jackson is coming off an upset win over Alexander Hernandez back in April but enters this fight as the underdog, as DraftKings has him at a salary of $7,100. In the UFC, Jackson is 6-4-1 with a no-contest and is 5-2 in his last seven fights. Jackson has won three times by stoppage, while he's been finished in three of his four losses. If Jackson can pull off the upset, he should get a ranked opponent next time out.--Cole SheltonSource: UFC

1 month agoChepe Mariscal (16-6) is set to take on Damon Jackson in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 95 on Saturday. Mariscal is a perfect 3-0 in the UFC and is coming off a controversial split decision win over Morgan Charriere back in April. Mariscal enters the fight as a sizeable favorite as DraftKings has him at a salary of $9,100. In the UFC, Mariscal has won just one fight by stoppage, as he is a good striker who throws volume to win decisions. If Mariscal can get the win on Saturday, a ranked opponent should likely be next.--Cole SheltonSource: UFC

2 months agoUndefeated bantamweight contender Umar Nurmagomedov extended his win streak to 18 with a unanimous decision win over Cory Sandhagen in the main event of UFC Abu Dhabi. Even though Nurmagomedov wasn't able to dominate as he did in his previous fights, he produced an excellent performance to overcome Sandhagen. In 25 minutes of action, Nurmagomedov landed five takedowns and 98 significant strikes. Nurmagomedov will likely overtake Sandhagen's spot in the rankings and earn a shot at the winner of the upcoming title fight between Sean O'Malley and Merab Dvalishvili.--Alen Kurbasic - RotoBallerSource: UFC

Brenner entered the fight as a slight underdog, but the Brazilian struggled with the size difference. He was outstruck in all three rounds and was struggling with Alvarez's power. Then, in the third round, he got dropped with a knee and was finished off with ground strikes. With the loss, Brenner is now on a two-fight losing streak and is 3-2 in the UFC. He likely will be fighting for his job in his next fight.--Cole SheltonSource: UFC

2 months agoJoel Alvarez picked up a third-round knockout win over Elves Brenner to open up the main card of UFC Abu Dhabi. Alvarez was ending a year-long layoff and he dominated the fight from start to finish. The Spaniard dominated the fist round, as he outstruck Brenner 39-to-15. He nearly finished Brenner on the ground, and the second round was much of the same as he outstruck Brenner 32-to-18. In the third round, Alvarez continued to piece up Brenner and eventually dropped him with a knee and finished him off with ground strikes. With the win, Alvarez is now 6-2 in the UFC and should get a ranked opponent next time out.--Cole SheltonSource: UFC

2 months agoTony Ferguson suffered a first-round submission loss to Michael Chiesa at UFC Abu Dhabi on Saturday. Ferguson entered the bout on a seven-fight losing streak and early on, he struggled with Chiesa's hook. Ferguson was then taken down early and he gave up his back, which allowed Chiesa to sink in the rear-naked choke and forced the tap in the first round. With the loss, Ferguson becomes the first UFC fighter to ever lose eight straight fights and it likely ends his UFC career. He did hint at retirement after the fight but wouldn't fully commit to it.--Cole SheltonSource: UFC
