3 days agoPittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson appears to have little interest playing elsewhere next season. There have been rumors that Wilson would want to join his former head coach Pete Carroll in Las Vegas next season. However, Wilson has squashed those rumors and says that his primary focus is on the Steelers. The 36-year-old is set to be a free agent this summer and isn't exactly a lock to return to Pittsburgh. Wilson threw for 2,482 passing yards with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions in 11 regular season games. He helped the Steelers make the postseason, but they were quickly eliminated by the Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers don't have another viable option at quarterback with Justin Fields also heading to free agency. It seems like there's a good chance Wilson returns to Pittsburgh, but him heading to Las Vegas shouldn't be ruled out yet.Source: AP News
3 days agoThe New York Jets have hired Scott Turner as their new passing-game coordinator. Turner was the pass game coordinator with the Las Vegas Raiders before becoming the interim offensive coordinator this past season. Turner was the OC for the Carolina Panthers in 2019 before joining the Washington Commanders for the same job from 2020-2022. Turner appears to be a good hire to help out new offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand in New York. Both are fairly young coaches, but have been impressive early in their coaching careers.Source: Tom Pelissero
3 days agoThe Las Vegas Raiders have decided to hire Chip Kelly as their new offensive coordinator. Kelly most recently was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach with Ohio State this past season. He also had stints as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers before heading to UCLA to be the head coach from 2018-2023. Carroll and Kelly briefly coached against each other when Kelly was with the 49ers and Carroll was coaching the Seattle Seahawks. Now, the two sides will join forces in hopes of turning around this Raiders team. Kelly is a intelligent offensive mind, so this appears to be a great hire by the Raiders.Source: Adam Schefter
3 days agoAccording to Bill Barnwell of ESPN.com, Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa could be a cap casualty during the offseason. Barnwell noted that Bosa logged only 14 games during the 2022 and 2023 seasons and missed three games this past season. During the season, Bosa could not log more than 20 defensive snaps in four contests. However, the former third-overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft took a pay cut last season and may have to do the same again to remain on the Chargers heading into 2025. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Bosa's status during the offseason, as he could be released due to his high salary and inability to remain on the field. This past season, Bosa tallied just 22 tackles with five sacks. This was his third straight season failing to tally double-digit sacks.Source: Bill Barnwell
3 days agoAccording to Bill Barnell of ESPN.com, the Detroit Lions could release quarterback Hendon Hooker during the offseason. Barnwell noted that since the team re-signed veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater late in the season, it appears that the Lions do not view Hooker as a potential starting quarterback. Hooker was selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He did not see the field during his rookie season but was able to log 32 snaps this past season. Hooker went 6-for-9 with 62 yards. He added two yards on five rushing attempts. Seeing that the team did not want to enter the postseason with Hooker as the No. 2 option is a telling sign. In addition, the Lions also signed Jared Goff to a four-year extension last May, signaling him as the QB1 for the foreseeable future. Hooker only carries low-end stash value in deeper superflex dynasty formats, as he could be given an opportunity to compete for a backup role elsewhere.Source: Bill Barnwell

3 days agoAccording to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Denver Broncos are expected to "take a look" at a versatile back for Sean Payton's rushing scheme. Fowler noted that given Jones' eight years of NFL experience, he could be a strong fit for a team that is looking to take the next step. During the 2024 season, the Broncos struggled to generate much on the ground as they tallied the 17th-most rushing yards per game (112.2). Javonte Williams tallied the most yards out of the backfield (513), with Jaleel McLaughlin just behind with 496 yards. In his debut campaign in Minnesota, Aaron Jones ran for 1,138 yards with five scores on 255 attempts. He added 408 yards and two scores on 51 receptions. Even though he is entering his age-30 season, Jones should be in a good position to tally over 1,000 yards on the ground once again in 2025.Source: Jeremy Fowler
3 days agoAccording to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, the Jacksonville Jaguars could emerge as a suitor for defensive back Carlton Davis III. Fowler noted that the Jaguars are not expected to spend a lot but could look to improve their secondary, as they allowed the most passing yards this past season. The 28-year-old suffered a season-ending jaw injury following their Week 15 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Across 13 contests, Davis tallied 56 tackles (42 solo) with 14 assists and 11 pass deflections. He added two interceptions, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. Davis spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Davis will join a crowded defensive back market in free agency with D.J. Reed, Charvarius Ward, and Byron Murphy Jr.Source: Jeremy Fowler
4 days agoThe Indianapolis Colts have hired Chris Hewitt to their coaching staff on Saturday. Hewitt most recently was the assistant head coach and defensive pass game coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens. He joined the Ravens in 2012 as the assistant special teams coach and worked his way up to assistant head coach this past season. He'll now head to the Colts as the defensive pass game coordinator and secondary coach. This appears to be a solid addition for the Colts who are looking to retool their staff after a lackluster season in 2024.Source: Tom Pelissero
4 days agoThe Las Vegas Raiders have interviewed Jerrod Johnson for their vacant offensive-coordinator position. Johnson is currently the quarterbacks coach with the Houston Texans. It's worth noting that Johnson is also in the running for the Texans offensive coordinator job. Johnson was the assistant quarterbacks coach with the Minnesota Vikings before getting the QBs coach job with Houston in 2023. He seems to be a smart offensive mind that should benefit whichever organization ends up landing him.Source: Aaron Wilson
4 days agoPhiladelphia Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson says that he'll be returning next season whether they win or lose the upcoming Super Bowl. The 12-year veteran did mention that he's going to take it year-to-year after the 2025 season. Johnson has been a key piece to the Eagles success on offense and will now head to his second Super Bowl over the last three seasons. The 34-year-old can likely pick when he wants to retire as the Eagles are likely going to continue bringing him back as long he plays at an elite level. Johnson isn't a free agent until 2027, so he'll likely be in Philly until then.Source: Tim McManus
4 days agoThe Chicago Bears have hired Eric Bieniemy for their vacant running backs coaching position. Bieniemy is mostly known for his five-year stint as the Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator. Since then, Bieniemy was the OC with the Washington Commanders for a season. Last year, Bieniemy left the NFL and went to UCLA to be the offensive coordinator. Now, Bieniemy is back in the NFL and will join new head coach Ben Johnson's staff in Chicago. Bieniemy is a knowledgeable offensive mind, so he should be a benefit to the Bears staff.Source: Jonathan Jones
4 days agoAccording to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Buffalo Bills were "happy" with wide receiver Amari Cooper's production and play with the team this season and are interested in re-signing him. Fowler noted that sources within the team are "intrigued" about getting him in a full offseason plan with quarterback Josh Allen. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the 30-year-old's status during free agency, as a return to Buffalo could be a possible destination. Cooper was traded to Buffalo prior to their Week 7 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Throughout his eight regular-season games with Buffalo, Cooper caught 20 passes for 297 yards and two scores. He also did not have much of a role during the playoffs, as he caught just six passes for 41 yards. If Cooper re-signs with Buffalo, fantasy managers should expect him to share targets with Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman.Source: Jeremy Fowler
4 days agoAccording to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, the New York Jets may attempt to re-sign defensive end Haason Reddick. Fowler noted that several sources within the Jets still believe the 30-year-old can still be a "double-digit" sack producer. In addition, sources believe his offseason may have contributed to his drop in production. Leading up to the 2024 season, Reddick was traded to the Jets from the Philadelphia Eagles but held out during training camp and the first seven games of the season due to a contract dispute. While Reddick eventually made his season debut during Week 8, he tallied only 14 tackles and one sack, which were the lowest marks of his career. Reddick tallied double-digit sacks over his previous four seasons leading up to 2024. Fantasy managers should expect the former 13th-overall selection to return to form in 2025 with a full offseason and training camp.Source: Jeremy Fowler
4 days agoAccording to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Las Vegas Raiders safety Tre'von Moehrig is expected to draw significant interest on the open market. Fowler noted that multiple evaluators believe that Moehrig's film "is the best of any free agent safety" and that the Raiders will have a "hard time keeping him." The TCU product enjoyed a career season in 2024. Moehrig tallied a career-high 104 tackles (64 solo) with 40 assists. He added one sack, two interceptions, 10 pass deflections, and two fumble recoveries. This was a solid improvement compared to the 83 tackles and 18 assists he logged during the 2023 campaign. Despite winning just four games this season, the Raiders defended the pass well, allowing the 15th-fewest passing yards per game (216.2). If Moehrig were to walk in free agency, Thomas Harper would be slated to move up the depth chart.Source: Jeremy Fowler
