5 days agoIt was another rough afternoon for Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson, completing just 10 of 32 passes for 175 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in a 23-20 loss to the Texans. The 22-year-old also fumbled twice, losing one of them, and was sacked five times, while 69 of his total passing yards came on a single play to Josh Downs. If not for that one play and Richardson gaining 45 yards on the ground, it would have been an even more forgettable performance. The former first-round draft pick also left the game briefly, which seemed concerning at the time, but after the game he said he just "needed a break." Now with a 44.4% completion rate on the year with a 4:7 TD:INT, it is hard to imagine things will get better in Week 9 on the road versus a Vikings defense that is top three in the league in interceptions and sacks.Source: ESPN
5 days agoDallas Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle (illness) won't play in Sunday night's matchup with the San Francisco 49ers. The 26-year-old was under the weather when he arrived to the stadium. However, after an examination by team medical staff, Dowdle will sit this one out. He entered Week 8 with 246 yards off 59 carries and 16 receptions for 131 yards and two touchdowns, so he was considered a flex option by some. But now the team will turn to Dalvin Cook and Ezekiel Elliott, although they haven't done enough to instill confidence in fantasy managers.Source: Tom Pelissero
5 days agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (groin) exited Sunday's game against the Jaguars. He injured his groin early in the contest but managed to play through it. However, it eventually caused his premature departure from the contest. Of course, head coach Matt LaFleur expressed concern over the injury. But NFL Media's Tom Pelissero reported that the team is optimistic Love "avoided a long-term injury." He'll undergo further testing on Monday. But if he can't suit up against the Lions, Malik Willis will take over.Source: Tom Pelissero
5 days agoDallas Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle (illness) is questionable for Sunday night's matchup with the 49ers. He arrived to the stadium with an illness, which would explain his late addition to the injury report. The 26-year-old has only 246 yards off 59 carries, adding 16 catches for 131 yards and two touchdowns this season. While he's not the most productive, his upside has earned him at least flex consideration in fantasy lineups. With that said, if Dowdle is sidelined, Ezekiel Elliott and Dalvin Cook will presumably split carries, although they are tough to trust.Source: Ari Meirov
5 days agoGreen Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson led the Packers in receptions as they edged the Jaguars in Jacksonville 30-27 in Week 8. Watson tied for the team lead in targets on the day with a six-target effort, bringing in a team-leading four receptions for 39 yards on the afternoon. All six of Watson's targets came with Jordan Love at quarterback, who left in the third quarter with a groin injury. Watson put forth a solid effort, but with the injury to Love and the bevy of pass-catchers involved each week in Green Bay, there's a lot of competition for targets and fantasy point-scoring opportunities. Watson is a boom-or-bust flex option for fantasy managers when the Packers host the Detroit Lions in Week 9.Source: ESPN
5 days agoMiami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert rushed for 19 yards on nine carries with two touchdowns and caught one pass for 11 yards in Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He punched it from the one-yard line on the team's opening drive and added a six-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Without his two scores, fantasy managers would have had much to desire. While Mostert was out-touched by fellow Miami running back De'Von Achane 16 to 10, it's clear that Mostert will be a massive factor in the red zone, much like last year when he led the NFL with 18 rushing touchdowns. Mostert will have several favorable matchups in the coming weeks to capitalize on. Week 9 presents a matchup against a Buffalo Bills defense that has been gashed by opposing running backs in 2024. Better rushing yardage days are ahead for the 32-year-old speedster, making him a touchdown-dependent flex in Week 9.Source: NFL
5 days agoGreen Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed was very quiet on the stat sheet until late in the Packers' 30-27 victory on the road in Jacksonville against the Jaguars. Reed only earned three targets, two receptions and 55 receiving yards on the afternoon, but no reception was bigger than late in the fourth quarter when Malik Willis found Reed on the sideline for the 51-yard catch and run to help set up Brandon McManus' game-winning field goal. It's been a quiet few weeks for Reed, as his target volume has fallen off week by week, but he's still a dynamic player that can hit in a big way for fantasy purposes. Against the Lions in Week 9, Reed is more of a mid-range WR2 with major upside for fantasy managers.Source: ESPN
5 days agoGreen Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs put up solid production in the Packers' 30-27 victory on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Doubs led the Packers' pass-catchers in targets (6) as he caught three of those for 72 yards. Jordan Love (groin) left the game early in the third quarter, leaving backup quarterback Malik Willis to orchestrate the offense. All of Doubs' targets came with Love in the game, as the Packers opted to employ a run-heavy approach for the rest of the game as Willis only had five pass attempts in the game. Doubs has been plenty involved in the offense as of late and that should continue as the Packers host the Detroit Lions in Week 9. Consider Doubs and low-end WR3 option in fantasy if Love is able to play in Week 9.Source: ESPN
5 days agoGreen Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs had a huge day in the Packers' 30-27 victory on the road in Jacksonville against the Jaguars. Jacobs took 25 carries and turned them into 127 rushing yards and two touchdown scores on the afternoon. Kicking off the scoring on the day was Jacobs with a three-yard touchdown plunge early in the first quarter. Jacobs put the Packers in the lead at the end of the third quarter with a 38-yard score, his longest run of the season. He also added one reception for -2 yards on two targets. With Jacobs and the Packers hosting the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions in Week 9, Jacobs should be considered a low-end RB1 in fantasy for the matchup.Source: ESPN
5 days agoCleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward (head) was diagnosed with a concussion, the sixth documented case of his career. The veteran exited Sunday's win over the Ravens, so his status for Week 9 against the Chargers is up in the air. But considering he most recently suffered a concussion in the summer, the team will likely be extremely cautious before he's permitted to get back on the field.Source: Joey DeBarardino
5 days agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (groin) will undergo further testing on Monday. The signal-caller injured his groin in Sunday's win over the Jags, and he'd finish the day by throwing for 196 yards and a pick off 14-for-22 passing. Considering Love has battled an injury already this season, any more absences wouldn't be an ideal scenario for fantasy managers. With that in mind, if Love can't go for the NFC North clash with the Lions, Malik Willis would operate under center. Of course, Willis isn't nearly as reliable, so he'd be hard to trust from a fantasy standpoint.Source: Charean Williams
5 days agoHouston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud returned to his efficient ways on Sunday against Indianapolis, completing 25 of 37 attempts for 285 yards and a touchdown in a 23-20 victory. The Ohio State product had no turnovers and completed passes to eight different receivers for Houston. Unfortunately, Stroud may be without another member of his talented receiver corps, as Stefon Diggs (knee) departed the game with a non-contact injury. Top target Nico Collins (hamstring) will be on injured reserve for at least another week. The second-year quarterback and the Texans will travel to play the New York Jets in Week 9.Source: ESPN
5 days agoMiami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane carried the ball 10 times for 97 yards and added six receptions on eight targets for 50 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown in Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Tua Tagovailoa's (concussion) return to the lineup significantly boosted the entire offense, connecting with Achane for a 12-yard touchdown in the third quarter. The second-year back had several highlight runs en route to his best performance of the season. The offensive line was much better on Sunday than in previous weeks, and Miami's rushing attack looked like the one we were accustomed to seeing, similar to last year. The next few weeks present several great matchups that Achane could take advantage of. In Week 9, the Dolphins get a matchup against a Buffalo Bills defense that ranks in the bottom five of the league in terms of fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs.Source: NFL
5 days agoHouston Texans running back Joe Mixon put together another productive fantasy day on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts by compiling 134 total yards, four catches, and a touchdown. He once again drew steady volume in the running game, turning 25 carries into 102 rushing yards, and he was second on the team with six targets. The veteran back had the possibility for even more, but lost a fumble inside the Colts' 10-yard line late in the fourth quarter, though the Texans still held on for a 23-20 victory. Mixon will look to keep up his good form when Houston visits the New York Jets in Week 9.Source: ESPN
5 days agoThe Green Bay Packers' defense and special teams' unit produced two turnovers in their 30-27 victory on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Packers were decent, but not spectacular as the team could only muster one quarterback sack of Trevor Lawrence on the afternoon. The team did get back into the turnover column after being shut out in Week 7 against the Texans. Safety Xavier McKinney notched his NFL-leading sixth interception on the season in the second quarter and linebacker Edgerrin Cooper forced a sack and forced fumble leading defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt to scoop up Lawrence's fumble. With the Detroit Lions coming into down fresh off of a 52-point effort against the Titans, it's probably a good idea to bench the Packers as your fantasy defense for Week 9.Source: ESPN
