Garcia is riding a three-fight winning streak with all three wins by knockout, as he has found immediate success since dropping back down to featherweight. Before losing to Namajunas, Cortez was on an 11-fight win streak. After Maycee Barber got injured, Cortez answered the call on three weeks' notice. She was originally preparing to face off against Miranda Maverick. In 25 minutes of action, Cortez landed two takedowns and 58 significant strikes. Namajunas was the only one of the four local fighters on the card to win. In 25 minutes of action, Namajunas landed five takedowns and 96 significant strikes. 4 months agoMuslim Salikhov won the biggest fight of his career at UFC Denver on Saturday night by defeating UFC veteran Santiago Ponzinibbio in the co-main event. By defeating Ponzinibbio, Salikhov avoided the first three-fight losing skid of his career. With this win, Salikhov improves to 7-4 in the UFC. 4 months agoThis past Saturday, Santiago Ponzinibbio was outpointed by Muslim Salikhov in a controversial split decision that went down in the co-main event of UFC Denver. This was Ponzinibbio's second loss in a row. Three of Ponzinibbio's past four defeats have come via split decision. In 15 minutes of action, Ponzinibbio landed two takedowns and 41 significant strikes. 4 months agoAnge Loosa suffered a unanimous decision loss to Gabriel Bonfim on the main card of UFC Denver on Saturday. Loosa. His previous bout against Bryan Battle ended in a controversy, as Loosa was poked in the eye and unable to continue. In 15 minutes of action, Loosa landed four takedowns and 52 significant strikes. 4 months agoGabriel Bonfim returned to winning ways when he faced Ange Loosa on the main card of UFC Denver. Bonfim ended his finish streak by securing a unanimous decision victory against Loosa. He was coming off the first loss of his professional career, against Nicolas Dalby late last year. In 15 minutes of action, Bonfim landed a takedown and 101 significant strikes. 4 months agoAbdul Razak Alhassan (12-6, 1 NC) had his UFC Denver fight against Cody Brundage end in a No Contest just 37 seconds into the opening round. Alhassan landed a big shot as Brundage dove in for a takedown that appeared to hurt him. As Brundage was trying to scramble and remain on a leg, Alhassan landed several elbows to the back of the head, and he was warned about them being illegal. After landing a couple more, the ref stopped the fight and it was ruled a No Contest. Alhassan is now 6-6 and one NC in the UFC.Source: UFC
4 months agoCody Brundage (10-6, 1 NC) had his UFC Denver fight against Abdul Razak Alhassan end in a No Contest in just 37 seconds due to accidental blows to the back of the head. Right away, Brundage shot in for a takedown, and Alhassan landed a big shot that hurt him. As Brundage tried to scramble and recover, Alhassan landed several elbows to the back of Brundage's head and the ref stopped the fight. After Brundage couldn't continue, the fight was ruled a No Contest. Whether or not Brundage will get another fight in the UFC is to be seen.Source: UFC
4 months agoChristian Rodriguez (11-2) suffered a first-round submission loss to Julian Erosa at UFC Denver on Saturday. Rodriguez entered the fight on a four-game winning streak and was a sizeable favorite. Rodriguez had success early on as he landed a big kick that somehow didn't KO Erosa. However, Rodriguez was taken down, and then with 11 seconds left, he tapped to a guillotine choke to lose in the first round. It was a tough loss for Rodriguez who was considered a top prospect at featherweight. Rodriguez is now 4-2 in the UFC and will need a step down in competition next time out.Source: UFC
4 months agoJulian Erosa (30-11) scored a first-round submission win over Christian Rodriguez at UFC Denver on Saturday. Erosa entered the fight as a sizeable underdog and early on, Rodriguez had some success as he landed a massive kick that the veteran ate. He then got Rodriguez down on his lone takedown attempt and was able to submit Rodriguez with just 11 seconds left in the opening round. With the win, Erosa is now 8-7 in the UFC and is on a two-fight winning streak as he has won back-to-back fights by first-round submission. Erosa could get a ranked opponent next time out.Source: UFC
4 months agoDrew Dober (27-14, 1 NC) suffered a third-round stoppage loss to Jean Silva on the main card of UFC Denver. Silva took the fight on short notice and Dober struggled with the Brazilian's flashy striking style and power. Silva was able to land the better shots as Dober got hurt and rocked multiple times. As the fight wore on, Dober had a nasty cut above his eye and the fight was called in the third round. With the loss, Dober is now 13-10 and one NC in the UFC and has lost back-to-back fights and is 1-3 in his last four as his time as a lightweight contender is over.Source: UFC
4 months agoJean Silva (14-2) scored a third-round stoppage win on the main card of UFC Denver against Drew Dober. Silva was fighting on the second straight UFC card as he moved up to lightweight and took on Dober who has been a ranked lightweight. The Brazilian was landing the heavier shots and had Dober hurt multiple times. The fight ended up being stopped in the third round due to a nasty cut above Dober's eye. Silva is now 3-0 in the UFC and has won all three of his UFC wins by stoppage. He could get a ranked opponent at either featherweight or lightweight next time out.Source: UFC
