O'Malley was looking to defend his belt for the second time, but he struggled to defend takedowns. 'Suga' was taken down six times and was controlled for over 10 minutes as the champ couldn't keep the fight on his feet or land anything with significance. 2 months agoDiego Lopes extended his win streak to five with a unanimous decision win over former title challenger Brian Ortega at UFC 306 on Saturday. Lopes almost knocked out Ortega in the first round but Ortega managed to survive. Lopes stunned Ortega again in the second round and even managed to knock Ortega down in the third round. In 15 minutes of action, Lopes landed a takedown and 105 significant strikes, compared to Ortega who landed 63. 2 months agoMerab Dvalishvili (18-4) cruised to a lopsided decision win over Sean O'Malley in the main event of UFC 306 to win the bantamweight title. Dvalishvili used his wrestling to control the fight as he took O'Malley down six times over five rounds and controlled him for over 10 minutes. Dvalishvili had his way with O'Malley and outstruck him 214-to-310. With the win, Dvalishvili became the UFC's bantamweight champion and is now on an 11-fight winning streak. Lopes had Ortega badly hurt in the first round and from that point on, Lopes continued dominating the former title challenger, and even dropped him in the third round. For 15 minutes the two prospects went to war in one of the very best fights of the year. Ultimately, a late flurry from Ribovics was enough to edge out a split-decision victory.
