2 weeks agoSt. Louis Blues defenseman Philip Broberg has quickly shown why the team was willing to sign him to an offer sheet in the summer. By dishing out an assist in Saturday's 4-3 win over Carolina, Broberg became the ninth rearguard in NHL history to record a point streak of at least six games from the start of his tenure with a franchise. He's the first defenseman to do it since Filip Kuba with the Ottawa Senators in 2008-09. Broberg has bagged one goal and five assists while operating on the second defensive pairing and the second power-play unit. His current scoring rate is clearly unsustainable, but fantasy managers should enjoy it while it lasts. The 23-year-old will try to extend his streak on Tuesday versus Winnipeg.Source: ESPN
2 weeks agoLos Angeles Kings defenseman Joel Edmundson (personal) is set to draw back into the lineup on Sunday versus Anaheim. He has missed a pair of games for personal reasons, but Edmundson has been removed from the non-roster list ahead of Sunday's Freeway Face-Off. Edmundson is a steady defenseman who rarely impacts things from a fantasy perspective. After joining the Kings as a free agent in the summer, he has posted one assist with four shots, eight blocks, and three hits in three games. Edmundson is expected to link up with Brandt Clarke on the third defensive pairing, pushing Caleb Jones out of the lineup.Source: NHL.com
2 weeks agoColorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews (lower body) was placed on Injured Reserve on Sunday. He's set to miss a fourth consecutive game because of a lower-body injury. Oliver Kylington and Samuel Girard have seen action on the first defensive pairing in Toews' absence. Kylington produced a pair of scoreless efforts with a minus-two rating in the role before being scratched for Friday's 4-3 overtime victory against Anaheim. John Ludvig was back in the lineup on Friday and might maintain his spot after Colorado secured its first win of the season.Source: Brennan Vogt
2 weeks agoColorado Avalanche left wing Jonathan Drouin (upper body) has been placed on Injured Reserve ahead of Sunday's matchup against San Jose. He will miss a fifth consecutive game, and it's not currently fully clear when Drouin will be able to return. The team reportedly plans to re-evaluate him on Oct. 28. In a corresponding move, Colorado recalled Chris Wagner from the minors on Sunday. The veteran has appeared in two NHL games this season, averaging 6:36 of ice time. He has registered three shots and three hits. Ross Colton is expected to continue filling in for Drouin on the first line. Colton has scored three goals in the past two games.Source: ESPN
2 weeks agoNew York Islanders left wing Anthony Duclair sustained an apparent leg injury in Saturday's matchup against Montreal. He was injured in the third period and couldn't put any weight on his right leg. Duclair entered Saturday's action with two goals and three points on his name through four games this season. He's a new top-line piece of the Islanders, having joined on a four-year, $14 million deal in the summer. Simon Holmstrom closed out Saturday's game on the first line. He could remain in the role for now if Duclair needs time to heal. The Islanders return to action on Tuesday versus Detroit.Source: Ethan Sears
2 weeks agoAnaheim Ducks forward Frank Vatrano (personal) will be back in the lineup on Sunday versus Los Angeles. He missed Friday's matchup against Colorado due to the birth of his child. Vatrano was activated from the non-roster list on Saturday and will likely be reunited with Ryan Strome and Troy Terry on the third line. The trio has a lot of offensive upside, but they haven't quite clicked yet. Vatrano has recorded only one point in three games this season and hasn't found the back of the net, despite lighting the lamp 37 times last term.Source: Anaheim Ducks
2 weeks agoPittsburgh Penguins goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic (lower body) has been recalled from the AHL ahead of Sunday's matchup against Winnipeg. After recovering from a lower-body injury, Nedeljkovic was sent to the minors for a brief conditioning stint. He made one appearance for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, finishing Friday's 4-3 victory over the Lehigh Valley Phantoms with 33 saves. The Penguins have seen Tristan Jarry struggle again, and Nedeljkovic could win the starter's job if he does well for the team. If he doesn't play on Sunday, Nedeljkovic should definitely see some action next week, as the Penguins have a back-to-back scheduled for Friday and Saturday.Source: Pittsburgh Penguins
2 weeks agoSt. Louis Blues defenseman Nick Leddy (lower body) will miss a second consecutive contest on Saturday versus Carolina. He is also considered questionable for the next game, scheduled for Tuesday night against Winnipeg. Leddy averaged 22:09 of ice time on St. Louis' first defensive pairing before landing on the shelf. He was replaced in the role by Ryan Suter in Thursday's 1-0 overtime victory against the Islanders. Suter logged 25:10 of action but didn't do a lot next to Colton Parayko, finishing with one shot on goal, two blocks, and one hit. Pierre-Olivier Joseph has filled the open spot in the lineup and logged 10:51 on the third defensive pairing Thursday night.Source: St. Louis Blues
2 weeks agoChicago Blackhawks left wing Pat Maroon (lower body) will miss Saturday's game against Buffalo. He has been left nursing a lower-body injury after blocking a shot with his leg in Thursday's matchup versus San Jose. The three-time Stanley Cup champ has contributed one assist in five games this season while delivering 10 hits in a fourth-line role. The Blackhawks will also be without Joey Anderson (illness) on Saturday, giving Andreas Athanasiou and Ryan Donato a chance to jump back into the lineup. Source: Charlie Roumeliotis
2 weeks agoSt. Louis Blues right wing Alexey Toropchenko (lower body) will miss Saturday's matchup against Carolina. The Russian forward is dealing with a lower-body injury and is considered day-to-day. Toropchenko is a big physical piece for the Blues on the fourth line, who has tallied one assist with four shots and 12 hits in five games this season. His absence gives Nathan Walker a chance to rejoin the action on Saturday. Walker logged one assist, four shots, and 12 hits in four games before being scratched for Thursday's 1-0 overtime victory against the Islanders. He has posted very similar numbers to Toropchenko, so it's basically a like-for-like change on the fourth line. Fantasy managers should ignore Walker.Source: St. Louis Blues
2 weeks agoUtah Hockey Club right wing Kailer Yamamoto will join the lineup on Saturday versus Boston. The 26-year-old will make his first appearance of the season, which also marks his debut for Utah. Yamamoto joined Utah on a one-year deal at the start of the month after spending the training camp with the team on a professional tryout agreement. He skated with the Seattle Kraken last term, recording eight goals and 16 points in 59 games. Yamamoto is not a very productive player and should remain on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues, especially when he's only seeing fourth-line minutes, as seems to be the case on Saturday night. Michael Carcone makes room in the lineup for Yamamoto.Source: Brogan Houston
2 weeks agoColumbus Blue Jackets forward Kent Johnson (upper body) is expected to be out for a while. Blue Jackets head coach Dean Evason told reporters on Saturday morning that Johnson's injury is not short-term. Johnson was hurt versus Buffalo on Thursday and will miss his first game of the season on Saturday when the Blue Jackets host Minnesota. Before getting injured, the 22-year-old was off to an excellent start to the season, notching five points (two goals, three assists) in four games. Johnson's absence will give Zach Aston-Reese an opportunity to impress in a top-six role on Saturday. He collected his first point of the season with the game-winning goal in Thursday's 6-4 victory over Buffalo.Source: TSN
2 weeks agoColumbus Blue Jackets right wing Yegor Chinakhov (lower body) will play against Minnesota on Saturday. There was a question mark hanging over Chinakhov after he was hurt in the previous game and didn't participate in Friday's practice, but the Russian winger isn't forced to miss any games. It's great news for the Blue Jackets, as Chinakhov has been one of the team's best players early in the campaign. With four games played, Chinakhov has tallied two goals and four assists, sharing Columbus' scoring lead with Kirill Marchenko. However, Saturday's matchup is a tough one for Chinakhov and the rest of the Blue Jackets' frontline against a team that is tied for the sixth-best defensive record in the league.Source: NHL.com
2 weeks agoToronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz is expected to get the starting nod on Saturday evening when the Leafs host the New York Rangers. Stolarz has started in all but one game this season and held a stellar .940 SV% and 1.69 GAA with a 2-1 record through his first three starts as a Leaf. The 30-year-old has yet to surrender more than two goals in a single start. Last season in Florida, Stolarz posted a strong .925 SV% and 2.03 GAA in 27 games. However, the former second-round pick faces a tall task this evening in the Rangers, as they have scored at least four goals in every game this season and tallied five in three of them, making him a risky play in DFS.Source: Dave McCarthy
2 weeks agoDallas Stars center Tyler Seguin (lower body) will not play on Saturday, according to Lia Assimakopoulos of the Dallas News. The 32-year-old has been sidelined for the past two games and will now miss his third straight with a lower-body injury. During his first three games, the veteran tallied three points (two goals, one assist) with four shots and one blocked shot. Mavrik Bourque has replaced Seguin in the starting lineup and should continue to be penciled in on the third line for now. 35-year-old Evgenii Dadonov was given the nod to replace Seguin's spot on the second power-play unit over the past two games and should continue to do so, which makes him an intriguing sleeper pick in DFS formats.Source: Lia Assimakopoulos
