In 14 previous races at Las Vegas, Suarez has nine top-20 finishes, including each of the last four Cup events at the Nevada track, where he placed 16th or better every time. Through 32 races this season, Suarez has one win and 17 top-20 finishes, including four of the last seven Cup events. At 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks, Suarez has three top-15 finishes and obtained positive Place Differential three times at the track type. In practice, Suarez ranked 21st in overall lap averages while ranking among the Top 10 fastest in the 15, 20, 25, and 30 consecutive lap average categories. Suarez is a quality choice for any DFS format this week based on his practice speeds, recent Vegas history, and overall performance at Intermediate tracks this year.

4 weeks agoJohn Hunter Nemechek obtained a starting position of 26th for this week's Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the South Point 400. This is a higher start position than the March race at the site where he started 27th. In three previous starts at Las Vegas, Nemechek has one top-20 finish but captured positive Place Differential three times. Through 32 races this season, Nemechek has six top-20 finishes and an average finish of 25.6. At 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks this year, Nemechek has three finishes with positive PD and two finishes of 22nd or better. In practice, Nemechek ranked 16th in five consecutive lap averages, 28th in 10 consecutive lap averages, and 13th in overall lap averages. Although Nemechek has upside based on his starting position, Nemechek's finishes at Intermediate tracks make him difficult to recommend outside of cash lineups, especially with other drivers who have more upside.

In 22 races at Las Vegas, Keselowski has three wins and 13 top-10 finishes, including last year's fall race at the Nevada track, where he placed fourth. After 32 races this year so far, Keselowski has one win, 13 top-10 finishes, and an average finish of 15.2. At 1.5-mile intermediate tracks in 2024, Keselowski has four top-15 finishes at the track type. In practice, Keselowski ranked 20th in five consecutive lap averages, 16th in 10 consecutive lap averages, and 11th in overall lap averages of all drivers. With strong track history, solid practice speeds, and favorable results at 1.5-mile intermediate tracks this year, Keselowski is a driver capable of placing in the top 15 and is a driver worth considering for all DFS lineups this week.

This is the lowest starting position yet for Jones at the Nevada track since the introduction of the Next-Gen car in 2022. Through 14 starts at Las Vegas, Jones has eight top-20 finishes, including three of his last four appearances at the site. The No. 43 Toyota driver also gathered positive Place Differential in his Cup career seven times overall at Vegas. In 30 races completed this season, Jones has 14 top-20 finishes, including three of the four races at 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks. In practice, Jones ranked fourth in overall lap averages and 10th in 10 consecutive lap averages of all drivers. Considering his favorable upside and practice speeds, as well as recent performances at Vegas, Jones is a nice option rosterable in any DFS format this week.

4 weeks agoTodd Gilliland of Front Row Motorsports obtained a starting position of 30th after qualifying for Sunday's South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, marking the fourth time in his Cup career that he will start inside the top 30 at the site. In five previous races at Las Vegas, Gilliland's best finish was 23rd, but he also scored positive place differential four times. Through 32 races this season, Gilliland has 17 top-20 finishes and an average finish of 20.4 while gaining positive place differential in three of the four races at 1.5-mile intermediate tracks. In practice, Gilliland ranked 30th in overall lap averages while ranking among the top 15 fastest in the 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 consecutive lap average categories. Due to his favorable practice speeds and high upside, Gilliland is one of the better overall value plays of the week and could compete for a top-20 finish.

In 26 races at Vegas, Busch has one win, 15 top-10 finishes, and an average finish of 11.2. This includes six top-10 finishes in the last eight Cup events at the site. In 32 races so far this year, Busch has 10 top-10 finishes, with three top-20 finishes at 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks. In practice, Busch ranked 26th in overall lap averages while ranking as high as 11th of all drivers in 20 consecutive lap averages. Based on his practice speeds and overall history at Las Vegas, Busch is a driver worth rostering in all DFS formats due to his decent upside and how he should place in the Top 15, especially if the race goes for long periods of green flag racing.

4 weeks agoHarrison Burton will start Sunday's South Point 400 from the 31st position, marking the third time he will start a race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway from outside of the top 30. In five starts at Vegas, Burton has two top-20 finishes, a best finish of 16th, and nabbed positive place differential three times. Through 32 races so far in 2024, Burton has one win and seven top-20 finishes. None of those top-20s were gained at 1.5-mile intermediate tracks like Las Vegas, but he does have three finishes with positive PD at the track type this season. In practice, Burton ranked 34th out of all drivers and ranked as high as 25th in 15 consecutive lap averages. Despite the high potential upside and underwhelming practice speeds, Burton is not a top DFS recommendation over other drivers due to his lackluster performances on 1.5-mile intermediate tracks this season and is best utilized in cash games only.

4 weeks agoDuring practice for the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Ryan Blaney crashed after his left rear tire was punctured. As a result, the No. 12 Ford driver will start Sunday's race from the 37th position. In 16 races at Vegas, Blaney has 10 top-10 finishes, including a career-best finish of third from the spring race at the site. After 32 races completed this year, Blaney has two wins and 15 top-10 finishes, including four of the six races in the playoffs. At 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks, Blaney has two top-5 finishes at the track type, including a finish of fourth at Kansas earlier in the playoffs. Since Blaney will start last, he offers more Place Differential upside than any other driver in the field and will be a chalky but fantastic driver to consider for all DFS formats this week.

4 weeks agoTo nobody's surprise, Kyle Larson is the favorite to win this weekend's South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Hendrick Motorsports driver is coming off of his sixth win of the season last weekend at the Charlotte Roval and has been dominant here at Las Vegas in the Next Gen era. In addition to leading 181 laps here in the spring en route to victory, Larson is also the defending race winner of this fall race, as he led 133 laps in last year's playoff race. Additionally, over the last seven races at this track, "Yung Money" has finished first or second five times. When it comes to DFS this weekend, DraftKings has Larson priced at a hefty $11,500 for this weekend's race, but with the dominator potential and race-winning upside, he would be worth every penny if he just has one of his "typical" Las Vegas races on Sunday. The No. 5 Chevrolet had the best 15-lap average in practice on Saturday.

4 weeks agoWilliam Byron has a fast No. 24 Chevrolet for this weekend's South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In practice on Saturday afternoon, Byron was 11th-fastest overall, and then he went out and qualified ninth for Sunday's race. It's not surprising that Willy B is fast, though, as he won here at Las Vegas last season and has finished 10th or better in each of the last three races at this track. He has yet to finish worse than 13th at Las Vegas in the Next Gen era. Looking at high-speed intermediate tracks this season, Byron ranks third-fastest behind Ty Gibbs and Martin Truex Jr when it comes to average speed. He also has the fourth-best average running position on Las Vegas and similar tracks this year. When it comes to DFS, Byron is priced at $10,800 on DraftKings this weekend, and could be an interesting pivot option off of some of the other drivers in that price range. However, if Byron doesn't dominate a decent portion of the race, he likely won't hit value at that high price.

4 weeks agoDon't be surprised if Denny Hamlin is a factor to win this weekend's South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver has been one of the best at Las Vegas and similar tracks this year, as Hamlin has the second-best average running position of all drivers over those six races. The only other driver who has a better average position is Hamlin's teammate, Ty Gibbs. Looking at Hamlin's track record here at Las Vegas, he got the victory in the fall race back in 2021 and has finished 11th or better in each of his last four starts here, including a fifth-place run in the 2022 playoff race. Hamlin also finished fifth at Charlotte this season, which is a similar track to Las Vegas, as well as eighth at Kansas a few weeks ago, which is the sister track to Vegas.

4 weeks agoDon't be surprised if Ty Gibbs is a factor in this weekend's South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. On high-speed intermediate tracks this season, Gibbs has been one of, if not the fastest all season long, and he posted a fifth-place finish here in Sin City back in March. Looking at similar tracks this year, Gibbs also fifth and sixth at Kansas and Charlotte (respectively), as well as a third-place result at Michigan back in August (although that track is a two-mile oval compared to Las Vegas' length of 1.5-miles). At $8,300 on DraftKings this weekend, Gibbs is definitely worth rostering in DFS contests, as he has rare race-winning potential at a mid-tier price, but he's more of a tournament option considering his limited Place Differential upside (he qualified eighth).
