Padres Unwilling To Part With Fernando Tatis Jr.
6 years agoThe San Diego Padres have told the Mets that infield prospect Fernando Tatis Jr. is untouchable in trade talks for starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard, according to major league sources. The teams have also discussed catcher Austin Hedges. Tatis is the team's top prospect and No. 2 prospect in all of baseball. The 19-year-old suffered a thumb injury in midseason but managed to hit .286/.355/.507 with 16 home runs and 16 stolen bases in 88 games for Double-A San Antonio in 2018. He'll likely start in the minors in 2019 but should be up with the Padres at some point next year.
