Padres Calling Up Francisco Mejia
6 years agoThe San Diego Padres are calling up catching prospect Francisco Mejia on Tuesday, according to a source. Mejia, the team's No. 3 prospect, was acquired from the Indians in July in the deal that involved relief pitcher Brad Hand. Mejia has hit well with Triple-A El Paso, batting .328 with seven home runs and 23 RBI in 31 games. In 110 games in the minors this year, he has a .293/.338/.471 slash line with 14 dingers and 68 RBI. Mejia can also play some first base, but it's unclear how much he'll play in the final month of the season. He remains mainly one to own in dynasty/keeper formats.
