Pablo Lopez, Jose Urena Moving In Right Direction
5 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Pablo Lopez (shoulder) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday. Starter Jose Urena (back) has started a throwing program in his recovery from a back injury. Lopez has been out since June 15 and was sporting a 4.23 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 73 strikeouts in 76 2/3 frames over 14 starts for the Fish. He has some upside, but he's only an option for those in much deeper leagues when he returns with few opportunities to pick up wins for his owners. Urena has been out since June 7 and has a 4.70 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 51 K's in 74 2/3 innings (13 starts). He's in much the same boat as Lopez, although his weak strikeout numbers make him even less attractive.
