O's Avoid Arbitration With Three Players
6 years agoThe Baltimore Orioles avoided salary arbitration on Friday with starting pitcher Dylan Bundy, relief pitcher Mychal Givens and infielder Jonathan Villar by signing them to undisclosed one-year deals. Villar was proving to be a bust in 2018 with the Brewers before he was traded to the Orioles, where he flourished in 54 games by hitting .258/.336/.392 with eight home runs and 21 stolen bases. He's just two years removed from a career-high 62 thefts. For his speed alone, Villar is a top-20 fantasy second baseman. Bundy had his worst season in 2018, going 8-16 with a 5.45 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. He has strikeout upside, but until he shows better form, he's merely an AL-only commodity. Givens should enter 2019 as the team's closer, but on what could be the worst team in baseball again, his fantasy upside is limited.
