Orioles Likely To Trade For Starting Pitching
5 months agoThe Baltimore Orioles only have three starting pitchers that are under team control beyond the 2024 season. It means that the Orioles will need as many as three starters before next season. Even with an expected payroll boost under new ownership, the O's don't figure to address all of its rotation needs in free agency this winter. It all increases the likelihood that they'll trade for a starting pitcher this summer, especially given their surplus of position-player prospects. Baltimore can be open to deals for higher-salaried veterans, knowing those players can be replaced internally. Among the long-term options that could take over full time in 2025, are Coby Mayo, Colton Cowser, Heston Kjerstad and Kyle Stowers. In exchange for White Sox lefty Garrett Crochet, for example, Chicago would likely want prospects such as Mayo and second baseman Connor Norby.
