Nomar Mazara Doesn't Need Surgery
6 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder Nomar Mazara (thumb) consulted with a hand expert who said that Mazara's thumb is fully stable and will not require surgery. Mazara's thumb sprain caused him to tail off at the plate in the second half, and he finished with a .258/.317/.436 slash line, 20 home runs, 77 RBI and 61 runs scored in 128 games played. It was his fewest games played in three seasons, yet he still managed to match his totals of 20 home runs each of his first two big league seasons. Mazara is an underrated outfielder who can hit for power and average. He managed to drive in 101 runs in his sophomore campaign, so Mazara could be even better in 2018 with better health.
