Noelvi Marte Cranks First Homer In Win
3 days agoCincinnati Reds third baseman Noelvi Marte homered for the first time this season in Wednesday night's win over the hosting New York Yankees in the Bronx. In addition to making a nice backhanded snag in the eighth inning, Marte cranked a two-run homer to left off scuffling Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodon to give the Reds a 2-0 lead in the second frame. The 22-year-old former top prospect is only 4-for-24 so far this year following an 80-game suspension, but he's already up to four RBI and two stolen bases in six outings. Marte offers an intriguing blend of power and speed at the hot corner for fantasy managers, and with Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) done for the season and Matt McLain (shoulder) still not close to returning, he's got a fairly clear pathway to playing time for the remainder of the year.
