Niko Goodrum The Favorite To Start At Second Base
6 years agoDetroit Tigers infielder Niko Goodrum will enter spring training as the favorite to start at second base this year. The former second-rounder of the Twins was one of Detroit's few bright spots last season and saw playing time at every position but pitcher, catcher and center field. Goodrum finished second on the team with a .747 OPS and a .432 slugging percentage and was third on the club with 16 home runs, 29 doubles and 55 runs scored. He also had just a .245 average and 132 strikeouts. His power/speed combination is attractive, but Goodrum's greatest asset to both the Tigers and those in AL-only leagues is his position versatility.
