Nick Senzel Called Up, Hitting Second In Debut
6 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds made it official on Friday by calling up top prospect Nick Senzel to the big leagues. He will bat second and play center field against Giants starting pitcher Tyler Beede. Reliever Matt Bowman was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move and second baseman Scooter Gennett (groin) was moved to the 60-day injured list. Senzel hit .312 with a .388 on-base percentage, 28 home runs and 132 RBI in 239 minor league games over four seasons. The No. 2 overall pick in 2016 will be the team's regular center fielder and can handle the bat for power and average. He should contribute immediately to fantasy lineups right away. Scott Schebler moves to the bench with Senzel's arrival.
