Nationals Will Consider Calling Up Dylan Crews In The Second Half
3 months agoMASN's Mark Zuckerman thinks the Washington Nationals are at least willing to consider calling outfield prospect Dylan Crews up to the big leagues in the second half of the season after they promoted him to Triple-A Rochester in mid-June. It seems unlikely that last year's No. 2 overall pick would come up to the big-league roster before the July 30 trade deadline. However, if the Nationals trade outfielder Lane Thomas, Crews would make for a logical replacement in the outfield in D.C. Even if Thomas stays, the Nationals would love to get a look at him by September as they make plans for next season. The 22-year-old LSU alum has hit only .253/.306/.407 in 20 games with three home runs and five steals at Rochester, but if Washington is out of contention late in the second half, it would be a surprise if Crews doesn't make his major-league debut in 2024.
