Nationals Agree With Starlin Castro
5 years agoThe Washington Nationals agreed to a two-year, $12 million deal with second baseman Starlin Castro on Friday, according to a source familiar with the deal. He's expected to be the starter at the keystone with his new club. The 29-year-old (30 in March) hit .270/.300/.436 with a career-high 22 home runs, 68 runs and 86 RBI in 162 games with the Marlins in 2019. A strong finish in the second half of the season buoyed his final line. Castro, a four-time All-Star, doesn't have much pop (20-plus homers only twice in his 10-year career), but he makes consistent contact to help fantasy owners with a usually useful average. His move to D.C. should boost his fantasy appeal in deep mixed and NL-only leagues as a middle infielder.
