Miles Mikolas Could Get Late Start To Season
5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas (forearm) will get a late start to spring training and is not expected to be ready for Opening Day. Mikolas received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his sore right forearm, but he stated that he expects it to be all set after recovery and not a lingering issue. "If I'm a couple weeks late to the season, I think that'll be the end of it," Mikolas said on Thursday. "I'll be back just like normal." He will be shut down for about a week, but should be able to ramp up activity after that. Mikolas was the Opening Day starter for the Cardinals last season, but had an overall disappointing year. Despite his own lack of concern, the early injury drops him to something closer to a backend starter in deep mixed leagues with low-strikeout upside.
