Miguel Sano In Much Better Shape
6 years agoMinnesota Twins third baseman Miguel Sano made it an offseason priority to get his body in much better shape, and he has noticeably slimmed down entering spring training. He might have to wait a bit longer to join his teammates after suffering a cut on his right heel in the Dominican Republic, but his conditioning is in a good place. Sano's transformation began last June when he was sent down to High-A Fort Myers to reset himself. Manager Rocco Baldelli said Sano was "extremely engaged" with his workouts this offseason. "When you see him … you’re going to see this guy spent a lot of time on his body and made it a focus of his winter," Baldelli said. He also added yoga into his routine to improve his mobility on the field. Sano was an All-Star in 2017 but hit just .199/.281/.398 last year while also battling injuries. There is room for a bounce-back performance, and he's worth taking a chance on in the later rounds for his power.
