Michael Mayer Catches One Pass Monday Night
1 year agoLas Vegas Raiders rookie tight end Michael Mayer and the rest of the Raiders pass-catchers didn't really have much of a chance to do anything in Monday night's 26-14 loss to the Detroit Lions to close out Week 8 action. Mayer was targeted only two times and came down with one catch for a 19-yard pickup. The good news is that the rookie tight end played a season-high 91 percent of the offensive snaps. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo threw for just 126 yards in his return from a back injury. Fellow tight end Austin Hooper caught both of his targets and also gained 19 yards. The 22-year-old Mayer has been the more productive tight end for the Raiders in 2023, but it has amounted to only 11 receptions for 148 yards and no touchdowns in his first eight games in the NFL.
