Michael Lorenzen Beginning Rehab Assignment
3 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Michael Lorenzen (shoulder) has been sent out on a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League. Lorenzen had a shoulder strain back in March and hasn't pitched yet this season, but he could serve in a starting or relief role for the Reds at some point in the second half. The 29-year-old figures to spend a good amount of time on his rehab assignment in the minor leagues because of how long he's been sidelined. Lorenzen made 18 appearances (two starts) in the shortened 2020 season and went 3-1 with a 4.28 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 35/17 K/BB in 33 2/3 innings. Unless he sees some starts later on this season, he's likely to remain on the waiver wire in the majority of leagues.
