Michael Fulmer Records His 10th Save
3 years agoDetroit Tigers relief pitcher Michael Fulmer closed the door on Saturday's 4-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays to earn his 10th save of the year. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one walk and no hits while striking out one. The team's primary closer, Gregory Soto (hand), was likely unavailable for the game after he was hit in the hand by a comebacker on Friday. There's no word yet on the severity of Soto's injury, but if he lands on the injured list, Fulmer will be in good shape to earn further save opportunities going forward. Fulmer has a 3.18 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP on the year and he's converted 10 of his 14 save opportunities.
