Michael Brantley, Ryan Pressly Won't Play In All-Star Game
3 years agoHouston Astros outfielder Michael Brantley and relief pitcher Ryan Pressly will not take part in the All-Star game next week. Brantley is dealing with a minor injury and Pressly is on paternity leave. With shortstop Carlos Correa on the COVID-19 list and second baseman Jose Altuve deciding to skip the game to rest up for the second half, the Astros won't have any representatives at the Midsummer Classic this year. Brantley doesn't have much power (just five home runs) or speed (zero steals), but he has a solid slash line of .324/.370/.475 in 278 at-bats this year in a loaded Astros lineup. Pressly has been fantastic as Houston's closer in 2021, posting a 1.42 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 16 saves in 38 innings of work.
