4 years agoThe New York Mets want to add a left-handed reliever and have been heavily involved with free-agent lefty Brad Hand. MLB Network's Jon Heyman said, "At this point, I think it's probably fair to say they are at least a favorite, if not the favorite [for Hand]." The Blue Jays are another team that has been eyeing Hand, but the White Sox are out after signing Liam Hendriks to be their new closer. The Dodgers are also interested but aren't willing to go beyond a one-year deal. The southpaw was an All-Star in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and led baseball with 16 saves in 2020 while finishing with a 2.05 ERA and a 1.37 FIP in 22 innings. Hand would give the Mets ninth-inning insurance behind Edwin Diaz, who converted just six of his 10 save chances, giving him 11 blown saves in 43 opportunities in the last two seasons.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
