Mets Likely To Pursue Trade For Yan Gomes
6 years agoThe New York Mets are optimistic that they have the prospect depth and payroll flexibility to pursue a trade for Cleveland Indians catcher Yan Gomes even if their proposed deal for Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano and closer Edwin Diaz is completed, according to a source. The Mets are expected to non-tender catcher Travis D'Arnaud, which would make him a free agent. Gomes is on the rise after hitting .266/.313/.449 with 16 home runs and 48 RBI for the Tribe in 2018. He's not a bad option in single-catcher leagues once some of the bigger names are off the board. The Mets roster looks to be drastically different heading into 2019.
