Melvin Gordon Waiting For Next Contract Extension
6 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon, who will make $5.6 million in the final year of his deal in 2019, said he's waiting to see how much Le'Veon Bell gets on the open market this offseason before worrying about his own contract extension with the Bolts. Both parties have interest in agreeing to a new contract this offseason, but Gordon isn't in a rush. By waiting, Gordon's next deal could be greater than that of both Todd Gurley and David Johnson, who signed extensions last summer. The 2015 first-round had a career-high 14 total touchdowns in 2018 and is one of the better young running backs in the game in an offense on the rise. He should be in play as a high-end RB1 late in the first round of drafts this fall.
