Mecole Hardman To Become More Involved In Offense
5 years agoKansas City Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub doesn't know how often second-year wide receiver Mecole Hardman will be returning kicks in 2020 as he becomes more involved in the offense in his second season in the NFL. "I’m not sure about Hardman. I don’t want to lose him. I think he’s just scratched the surface as a returner," Toub said. The 22-year-old was a second-round pick in 2019 and scored six touchdowns and averaged 20.7 yards per catch on just 26 receptions in his rookie season. Hardman also returned a kickoff for a TD. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce are the top-two pass-catchers in KC's offense, but Hardman could make a push for more targets than Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson because of his explosiveness. Hardman has WR3/flex upside with Patrick Mahomes throwing him the football more regularly.
