Max Meyer To Undergo Tommy John Surgery
2 years agoMiami Marlins pitching prospect Max Meyer (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles in the near future after his MRI exam on Monday showed a tear in his UCL. Meyer was making just his second major league start when he was forced to leave the game with right elbow discomfort, and now he'll miss the rest of this season and most of 2023. It's a big blow for the team's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, after he gave up five earned runs on seven hits while striking out six and walking two in six innings in his first two MLB starts this year. In 13 starts with Single-A Jupiter and Triple-A Jacksonville this year, Meyer had a 3.69 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 69 strikeouts and 19 walks in 61 innings pitched.
