Matt Strahm Should Move To Bullpen Sessions Soon
3 years agoSan Diego Padres left-handed reliever Matt Strahm (knee) has rejoined the big league team after spending the first two months of the season rehabbing after undergoing patellar tendon surgery on his right knee last October. Strahm has been playing catch and should move to bullpen sessions soon. However, it's likely to be a slow buildup since he has yet to pitch at all in 2021. The 29-year-old was a key left-handed piece for the Friars bullpen during the shortened 2020 season, posting a 2.61 ERA and 0.87 WHIP with 15 strikeouts and only four walks in 20 2/3 relief innings over 19 outings. If the Padres can get both Strahm and fellow lefty reliever Drew Pomeranz (lat) back at some point in the second half of the season, their bullpen will be even more dominant. Strahm is not a fantasy consideration, even when healthy.
