Matt Shoemaker Agrees With Blue Jays
6 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays agreed to a one-year deal in the range of $3 million to $3.5 million with free-agent starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker on Friday, according to MLB Network insider Jon Paul Morosi. Due to injuries, the right-hander made only 21 starts the last two injuries. He went 9-13 with 143 strikeouts over 160 innings for a 3.88 ERA in 2016. While there is opportunity for a bounceback with good health, Shoemaker has been prone to giving up the home-run ball, which makes him a risk/reward at hitter-friendly Rogers Centre and in the tough American League East.
