Matt Olson Will Participate In Home Run Derby
3 years agoOakland Athletics first baseman Matt Olson will try to become the third A's player to win the All-Star Home Run Derby next week. The first-time All-Star will compete against Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani, reigning champion Pete Alonso of the Mets, Orioles first baseman/outfielder Trey Mancini, Rockies shortstop Trevor Story and Royals catcher Salvador Perez. Olson has been the leading slugger for Oakland this year, posting a .552 slugging percentage with 20 long balls. The 27-year-old is also posting an impressive slash line of .283/.372/.552 with a .923 OPS, 51 runs scored, 53 RBI and even three stolen bases in 290 at-bats this year.
