Matt Harvey Agrees With Angels
6 years agoFree-agent starting pitcher Matt Harvey agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday, according to a source. The Halos can certainly use some pitching help with Shohei Ohtani (elbow) out for the 2019 season and Matt Shoemaker now a free agent. Harvey, once known as the Dark Knight when he was an All-Star for the Mets in 2013, hasn't been the same since having shoulder issues. He went 7-9 with a 4.94 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 7.6 K/9 in 32 outings (28 starts) with the Mets and Reds in 2018. Twenty four of his starts came with Cincy, where he posted a 4.50 ERA. He can be useful in deep mixed and AL-only leagues in the right matchups, but he no longer carries elite upside like he did early in his career. There are worse places Harvey could've landed, though.
