Matt Chapman Slightly Behind Schedule
6 years agoOakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman (shoulder, thumb) is slightly behind schedule following two surgeries in the offseason. He is currently on a swing progression but is unlikely to see game action in spring training immediately. Chapman's goal is to be ready for Opening Day in Japan, and he should be fine unless he suffers a setback. Chapman will turn 26 in April after breaking out last season with a .278/.356/.508 slash line, 24 home runs, 100 runs and 68 RBI in 145 games. He's also one of the best defensive third baseman in baseball. Don't be scared off by his injuries. He's a rising star that is a fine fallback option once the top names come off the board at the position.
