5 years agoThe St. Louis Cardinals placed third baseman Matt Carpenter (foot) on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a right foot contusion and called up rookie infielder Edmundo Sosa from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move. Carpenter fouled a pitch off his foot on Monday and left the game early. He's been one of the biggest fantasy busts in 2019, hitting just .215/.321/.372 with 10 homers, 43 runs, 29 RBI and six steals in 293 at-bats. Despite the bad year, Carp is probably still worth stashing in most leagues, so consider scooping him up if his owner drops him. Tommy Edman, Yairo Munoz and Sosa could fill in at third while Carpenter recovers. Edman is the most intriguing option for those in NL-only leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
