Matt Barnes Could Be Back Soon
2 years agoBoston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that the team remains hopeful that relief pitcher Matt Barnes (shoulder) will miss the minimum time on the injured list and return to the team on June 15. Barnes felt pain in his shoulder while warming up on May 30 and was put on the injured list the following day. The right-hander is dealing with fluid in his right shoulder after undergoing an MRI exam. Barnes has two saves this year, but he just hasn't been the same pitcher since the second half of last year. He allowed 15 earned runs on 17 hits while striking out 14 and walking 12 in 17 innings before going on the injured list. At best, Barnes will be involved in a closing committee in Boston when he returns.
