Marlon Mack, Jonathan Taylor To Form One-Two Punch
5 years agoIndianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich wants both running backs Marlon Mack and rookie Jonathan Taylor involved in the running game in 2020. The Colts traded up in the second round to draft Taylor, who ran for 2,003 yards and 21 touchdowns last year at Wisconsin. His 12 career games with at least 200 rushing yards are the most by any player in college football history. "With Jonathan into the mix, I really envision that it’ll be Jonathan and Marlon really being that one-two punch," Reich said. Mack ran for over 1,000 yards for the first time in his three seasons in 2019, but he has yet to truly distance himself in Indy's backfield, and Taylor could easily separate himself in this committee approach before long. Mack will probably be first off the board in drafts as an RB 2/3 type, but Taylor is an excellent handcuff and has more upside in what could be a very dynamic offense with quarterback Philip Rivers and rookie wideout Michael Pittman Jr. added to the mix.
