Marlins Sign Yangervis Solarte
5 years agoThe Miami Marlins signed free-agent infielder/outfielder Yangervis Solarte to a minor league deal on Friday night, according to a source. Solarte is expected to appear in extended spring training and will be assigned to Triple-A New Orleans after that. The 31-year-old hit just .205/.247/.315 with six extra-base hits and seven RBI in 78 plate appearances for the Giants this year before he was cut. The struggling Marlins could probably use a veteran player like Solarte who can fill in at multiple positions across the diamond, so we wouldn't be surprised to see him in Miami relatively soon. However, he won't come with much fantasy appeal and would probably only be useful in NL-only leagues.
