4 years agoThe Miami Marlins placed outfielders Lewis Brinson and Matt Joyce on the 10-day injured list on Thursday. Neither player has appeared at summer camp since it began, making it likely that their absence is COVID-19-related. The fact that neither outfielder has gotten repetitions in camp also likely means that they will not be ready by Opening Day next Friday. A former top prospect of the Brewers, the 26-year-old Brinson has disappointed so far at the major league level by hitting .183 in 205 games with Milwaukee and Miami. He hit just .173 with no home runs and 15 RBI in 75 games in 2019. Joyce swung the bat well in limited playing time with Atlanta last year, and the veteran figures to platoon in the outfield once he's healthy.
