Marlins Haven't Decided Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s Position
2 years agoWhen asked if Miami Marlins infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. will get any run at shortstop in 2023, general manager Kim Ng said, "We haven't decided yet." Chisholm was the team's full-time second baseman in 2022 and earned his first All-Star nod in his third season in the majors. But after the team sent shortstop Miguel Rojas to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, there's an opening at the 6 in Miami. Chisholm's natural position is at shortstop, but the recently signed Jean Segura and Joey Wendle are also candidates to play shortstop next season. Ultimately, keeping Chisholm at the keystone might be the safest option after he played only 60 games in 2022 due to back and knee injuries. Defensive position aside, the 24-year-old has plenty of offensive upside with 34 homers, 104 RBI and 37 stolen bases in his first three MLB campaigns.
