Marlins Finalizing Deal With Corey Dickerson
5 years agoThe Miami Marlins are finalizing a two-year deal with outfielder Corey Dickerson on Saturday. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed. The Marlins preferred to land Yasiel Puig, a Cuban native, but they settled for the fallback option in Dickerson. Dickerson is an underrated offensive commodity, but he played in just 78 games with the Pirates and Phillies in 2019 because of injuries. He still managed to hit .304/.341/.565 with 12 home runs and 59 RBI when he was healthy. The 30-year-old left-handed hitter will bring a veteran presence to Miami's outfield, 20-plus homer power and a consistent contact profile. His fantasy upside will be rather limited on a rebuilding team and in a pitcher-friendly home park, but Dickerson represents solid outfield depth in deep mixed and NL-only leagues.
