Marlins Claim Jesus Aguilar Off Waivers
5 years agoThe Miami Marlins claimed first baseman Jesus Aguilar off waivers from the Rays on Monday, according to sources. With a clear path to regular at-bats at first base in Miami, Aguilar could be in line for a bounce-back 2020 season after he struggled to a .236/.325/.389 line in Tampa with only four home runs and 16 RBI in 222 at-bats. The playing time just wasn't there for Aguilar after he had a career year in 2018 with Milwaukee, hitting .274/.352/.539 with a career-high 35 homers and 108 RBI in 149 games. Regular playing time should allow Aguilar to improve on his disappointing 2019 campaign. He'll be worth a late-round flier for his power.
