Mark Trumbo To Start On Injured List
6 years agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder Mark Trumbo will open the season on the injured list after working his way back all spring from right knee surgery, according to manager Brandon Hyde. Trumbo was just 2-for-12 (.167) with a walk in six spring games after he made his Grapefruit League debut on March 13. Doctors initially recommended a year of recovery after Trumbo went under the knife a little more than seven months ago. Hyde plans to "get creative with" the designated hitter spot, with Trey Mancini and Chris Davis the obvious candidates. Both Rio Ruiz and Renato Nunez could make the Opening Day roster now. Trumbo suffered from injuries last year and hit .261 with 17 home runs. He's only a stash in AL-only leagues to begin the season.
