Mark Trumbo Making Spring Debut Wednesday
6 years agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder Mark Trumbo, more than eight months removed from serious right knee surgery, is making his Grapefruit League debut on Wednesday as the designated hitter. It's Trumbo's first game since Aug. 19 of last year, and there are no plans yet for him to play the field. He has already had around 20 at-bats against live pitching on the back fields. Baltimore is being cautious with Trumbo, but his knee has held up so far. The 33-year-old could open the year as the DH. He led the major leagues in home runs in 2016 but hit .261 with only 17 home runs and a .764 OPS in 90 games in 2018. You can leave him to the waiver wire in most mixed leagues.
